Event Recap: Health IT Forum on the Hill

The inaugural Health IT Forum on the Hill, hosted by the Utah HIMSS Advocacy and Policy Committee, marked an important step in fostering collaboration between healthcare leaders, policymakers, and industry experts. Held on November 20, 2024, at the Utah State Capitol, the event provided a valuable platform to discuss the intersection of healthcare technology, data policy, and innovation.

This informal gathering fostered meaningful connections and organic discussions on the future of healthcare technology, privacy, and policy. Participants explored collaborative approaches to advancing health IT initiatives and improving patient outcomes across the state. The event highlighted the shared commitment of policymakers and industry professionals to leveraging innovation for better healthcare delivery.

The morning began with networking over breakfast, followed by a warm welcome and introduction to several Utah legislators and recent efforts to lay the groundwork for responsible health data policy in Utah, especially regarding the application of artificial intelligence. Attendees appreciated the opportunity to engage in open dialogue and gain valuable insights from such a diverse group of stakeholders.
